Celebrate

Hi all,
Happy Sunday to you! Hope you had a great weekend. I will tell you about mine but first I have a card to show you that I'm entering into 2 challenges - Card Patterns sketch 130 and CR84FN37.

I struggled with both challenges as I wanted to add more embellies to shabby it up and the colors threw me off. I found it hard to combine blue with turquoise. But I did! Take a look:

The card stock and ribbon is Stampin Up's Baja Breeze. Pattern paper is from Melissa Frances' Kitschy Kitchen line. The chipboard circle is also by Melissa Frances. Buttons are from my stash.

The weather here in Chicago land has been just perfect. No humidity and in the high 70's to low 80's. Perfect weather for a wedding! Speaking of, my nephew got married this weekend. Beautiful ceremony. My brother and SIL from Southern Indiana drove up for it. I met up with them the night before at a cute Irish Pub called Kerry Pipers. Since the weather was cooperating, we sat outside on the patio and ate appetizers and enjoyed a few beverages! Then Saturday, after the church ceremony, I spent some more precious time with my bro and SIL before they headed back home. I don't see them but a few times a year so it was good to see them.

Well, I better go post my card for the challenge before I forget! Have a great week,
Nancy

I'M A WINNER!

Hi all!
I am so excited! I am one of those people who never, ever win anything. I buy raffle tickets all the time, play the lottery, but never, ever win. But guess what? I finally won something! And to top it off, it's my favorite thing to play with - crafty stuff...embellies...goodies!!
I follow the Crafty Secrets blog and all the DT blogs too. I love their art and I find so much inspiration on their blogs. Pam Hooten is one of Crafty Secrets DT members and one of my idols. I love her blog and admire all her work. She happened to have a give away last week and all I had to do was comment on her 8/16 posting. What a coincidence that 8/16 is also my birthday!!! Here is a picture of her give away:

OMG! I can't wait to get my hands on all these goodies. Look at all the Tattered Angels stuff: a mini album, glimmer mist, frames, Crafty Secrets goodies, lace, buttons, trim....I will be sure to put all this to good use. Be sure to come back and visit to see what I create using all these goodies! Thank you Pam!!
Sweet dreams -

Shabby Tea Room - week #75

Hi all,
My week off from work seems to have flown by! Nothing on my "to-do" list was finished....started, but not finished! Hopefully, I will complete some projects around the house that I intended on doing. But for now, here is this weeks challenge at the Shabby Tea Room - polka dots!

Since I have one more birthday card to complete before the party on Saturday, I decided to add in polka dots! Here is my card:

Once again, I apologize for the terrible photography! Pattern paper, ribbon and ink from Stampin Up; doily die from PTI, and card stock pic from Crafty Secrets. The button and pearl from my stash. I made the tag myself from a scrap. The stick pins are actually sewing pins!
I am off to post my card over at the Shabby Tea Room. Thanks for popping in!
Have a wonderful Thursday -

Card Patterns - Sketch 128

Hi all,
It's the first day of my stacation! Slept in, had my coffee outside on the patio, and made a card for the challenge at Card Patterns! Here is the sketch:

Perfect timing as I am still working on making birthday cards for all the August birthdays in my family.I need to get these made by this Saturday! So, here is my card for this sketch and one less birthday card I need to make - lol!

Pattern papers & die cut trim by Basic Grey. Sentiment and leaf punch from Stampin Up. Ribbon and flowers I believe were purchased at Michaels craft store.

I am off to the store - need to pickup some ingrediants to make a strawberry pretzel salad. Sounds refreshing on a warm Monday afternoon in Chicagoland, yes?
Happy Monday!

CR84FN36

Hi all,
What a gorgeous Sunday it is here in Chicagoland. I've done all my outdoor stuff and thought I'd come in and make a card for the color challenge at CR84FN- yellow, kraft and neutral. This is the picture for inspiration -

And here is what I've created for this color challenge:

I made the card out of kraft cardstock from Stampin Up, yellow/white pattern paper is from MME, chipboard sticker from Little Yellow Bicycle, button and twine from PTI and white ribbon is also from Stampin UP.

I may be poppin back later tonight as I want to enter the challenge over at Card Patterns. We'll see...
Happy Sunday,
Nancy

Love for Roosters

Hi all,
T.g.i.f - agree? I so love Fridays, especially this one! No more work for a whole week - yippee. And what a week it was for me. I'm involved in a Lean Six Sigma project at the company I work for and we are in our last phase so lots of activity going on with that.
I have been busy making lots of birthday cards lately. My family celebrates 5 birthdays this month - 2 nieces, myself, my sister Lynne, and my godson/nephew Aiden. Not to mention a birthday of a co worker too. I've made 2 so far but forgot to take pictures of them and have already given them to the birthday person. I thought they turned out good too! Oh well. Here is one I finished last night for one of my nieces who loves roosters.

I found the picture of the hens in my drawer full of Crafty Secrets goodies. Speaking of Crafty Secrets, the pattern papers is from the Vintage Pattern CD. Sentiment from a Stampin Up set. Misc.ribbon and button.
Thanks for stopping in and taking a peek. I'm off to run some errands and settling in later with a bowl of popcorn and a movie.

Card Patterns - Sketch 127

Hi all,
Happy Sunday! Another hot and humid day in Chicagoland. Although the weather forecast for this coming week sounds gorgeous - low 80's and no humidity! And then the following week I am on vacation - yippee! No plans just yet other than getting caught up with chores around the house that I have been putting off all summer long. My back is getting stronger and stronger everyday so now I have no excuse!

My nephew (and godson) Aiden turned 6 this past Friday. I had attended his birthday party and took him home with me for the weekend. Saturday Aiden, my daughter Dana and myself volunteered at FTSC (Feed the Starving Children) measuring food, bagging, sealing, and labeling them. What an awsome organization they have. Our whole group packed 37 boxes which holds 36 bags each and will be shipped off to parts of Africa.

I'm entering a card into another Card Pattern challenge that looks like this -

Here is what I came up with:

I made the doily from a Cricut cartridge; punched the bird and branch from a Stampin Up punch and scraps of paper. Pattern paper is Melissa Frances, tag and sentiment from PTI, scrunch seam binding from Memrie Mare and flower by Recollections at Michaels Craft store.

I am off to post my card. Have a great Sunday!

Card Patterns - Sketch 126 / CR84FN35

Hi all,
I have a couple of cards to share with you. The first one is for a challenge over at Card Patterns. Here is the sketch:
And here is my take on it:

Pattern papers are from Melissa Frances, the chipboard frame is from Tattered Angels, button and tag and sentiment are from PTI, and the die cut is from Crafty Secrets.

My next card is for a color challenge over at CR84FN. The colors for this challenge is gray, lavender and celery. Here is the picture for inspiration:

 Here is my card:

All supplies used on this card are from Basic Gray other than the seam binding which is from MemrieMare and the button from PTI.
Well, that is all for now. I am going for a walk and then come home and start a birthday card for my nephew who is also my godson. Aiden will be 6 years old this Friday - they grow up so fast, don't they? I love this little guy more than he will ever know.
Happy Monday!
Nancy
