Birthday celebrations

What a wonderful week off  I had. Great weather, lots of craft time, and even spent time with the littles. My sister and I took them to our local arboretum that sponsored a Lego Walk. There were 13 different displays set up all throughout the arboretum. Aiden even entered a contest! He called his creation a robot flower!

The day before we went to the arboretum, the same sister and I took the train into Chicago to celebrate our birthdays by having dinner at a restaurant owned by Bill and Giuliana Rancic - RPM Italian. Excellent food and the staff was very nice. They learned we were celebrating our birthdays and helped us to celebrate it by sending over a dessert!

4 miniature ice cream cone cups - one flavor was coconut, hazelnut, raspberry and lemon. Yummy!
From there, we walked over to the Trump Tower to have an after-dinner drink. Our waitress also learned we were celebrating our birthdays and brought us a surprise!
It was a type of cheesecake with layers of chocolate cake along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

And this is a picture of the birthday gals taken by our waitress. That is Lynne on the left, me on the right. We lost track of time and almost missed our train!

And of course, I do have a card to share with you today. I made this one several weeks ago.

I used the Stampin Up Lotus Blossom stamp set (3 step stamping) along with the Stampin Up Perfect Plum and Pale Plum inks and cardstock. I cut it out using a circle framlit die and adhered it to Perfect Plum cardstock and black cardstock.

I used a scallop border punch along with some white lace and ribbons from my stash to dress it up.
That is it from me. Enjoy your week ahead!

Paper Players Challenge #256

Popping in real quick here to share a card I made for the challenge at Paper Players. The challenge is to make a square card.

My cards are usually 4.25 x 5.5. Today's card is 5x5.

All supplies used are Stampin Up unless otherwise noted. For the card base I used Cucumber Crush card stock. I ran whisper white card stock through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot embossing folder. Using my daubers, I stamped each dot in Strawberry Slush, Mint Macaron and More Mustard inks. I then adhered it to card base.

I then stamped and punched out 2 flowers from the Flower Shop stamp set and popped them up using dimensionals. I added green sequins from my stash to the flower's center. The sentiment is from the Big Day stamp set. This was stamped in More Mustard. Using more dimensionals, I added this layer to the front of the card.

I took some twine (Michaels Craft Store) and made a couple of loops and tucked that in behind the corner of the top layer.

Here is a snapshot of what the inside of the card looks like. Kinda cute, huh?

I am back to the drawing board, working on a envelope mini album! You can find a tutorial on My Sisters Scrapper blog. I can't wait to get started on this one. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Louisville wedding

I am back from my trip to Louisville, KY for my niece's wedding. What a fun time we all had. It was good to see my brother and his family. This picture was taken the day after the wedding.

From L to R: Garrett-groom, Mary Jane-SIL, Jaime-bride, John-brother. And here is the happy couple after being pronounced Mr & Mrs:

Below is a snapshot of me and 2 of my sisters that made the trip with me:

L to R: me, Chrissy and Lynne.

And yes, I do have a card to share with you too. This was made a few weeks ago when I took a few days off and never left my craft room!

All supplies are from Stampin Up - cardstock, pattern paper, die cut and sentiment. The zig zag trim above and below the 'happy Birthday' is a die from PTI.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
